Moisture

Exposure to water and moisture, such as showering, hand washing, and swimming, can cause jewellery to tarnish.

Exercise

Delicate jewellery can be vulnerable during exercise or vigorous activities.

Cosmetics

Contact with perfume and cosmetic products can potentially damage gold-plated and sterling silver jewellery.

Storage

For long-term storage, we suggest keeping your jewels in the supplied gift bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

About Your Jewellery

All Orna Curio Jewellery pieces are nickel-free.

Sterling Silver

We use solid sterling silver (925). The '925' represents a minimum of 92.5% pure silver. To enhance durability, 7.5% of alloy is added, as pure silver is soft and prone to breakage.

White Cubic Zirconia

We source high-quality cubic zirconias from reputable suppliers to ensure consistency and durability. Cubic zirconia crystals closely resemble real diamonds, even though they are man-made.

Freshwater Pearls

Freshwater pearls are delicate by nature and require special care for their beauty to endure over the years. Here are some tips on how to care for your pearl jewellery:

Wearing Your Pearls

  • Put on your pearls last and remove them first to minimize contact with creams, oils, cosmetics, and hairspray that can potentially damage them.
  • Avoid wearing your pearls if the string gets wet, as a wet cord or string may stretch and harm the pearls.
  • Do not wear your pearls in water, as exposure to water from swimming, showering, or dishwashing can affect their luster and overall condition.
  • Pearls are sensitive to body acids, so avoid wearing them during strenuous exercise or activities that lead to excessive sweating.
  • Store and wear your pearls with care to prevent scratching. Avoid storing them with other jewellery items that may rub against them and cause damage.
  • The ideal way to store pearls is in a soft pouch or a jewellery box with separate compartments to shield them from dust, sunlight, and other potential hazards.

Cleaning Your Pearls

  • After wearing your pearls, gently wipe them with a soft cloth to remove any body oils or residue.
  • Clean your pearls delicately with a small amount of mild washing liquid and warm water. Avoid harsh detergents or chemicals that may harm the pearls.
  • Dry your pearls with a soft cloth and lay them flat on a towel to air dry. Avoid hanging them, as this can stretch the string and damage the pearls.
  • Remember never to clean pearls in an ultrasonic cleaner, as this can harm their delicate surface.
